Aggressive Stock Removal
Heavy paint layers, excess body filler, and rough timber require an abrasive with maximum cutting force. 6 inch 60 grit sanding discs utilize P60 aluminum oxide grain on a 150mm platform. The coarse grit is designed for the front end of the sanding sequence, stripping material rapidly rather than creating a finish. The 150mm face covers significant ground on a DA sander, equipped with 6-hole, 8-hole, or multi-hole dust extraction patterns.
Coarse Sequence Requirements
P60 is a starting grade. Filler built up above the panel surface must be leveled with P60 or P80, followed by successive steps through P120, P180, and P240. Skipping the intermediate grades leaves deep P60 scratch marks that finer abrasives cannot easily remove. For woodworking, P60 removes saw marks and planer ridges, preparing the board for finer sanding.
Heavy-Duty Applications
Body shops use the disc to knock down large filler areas. Timber shops level solid boards and glued panels. Renovation crews strip thick, flaking paint. Metal fabrication removes heavy rust and mill scale before coating. Flooring installers level subfloors.
Bulk Coarse Supply
Dongguan Sansha Abrasives Co., Ltd. supplies P60 alongside transition grades (P80–P120) as coarse-stage sets for the initial phase of sanding. Both hook and loop and PSA backing formats are available. A pre-production sample secures the standard. Small batches require roughly 3 days for delivery, and large batches take about a week. Payment is 50% deposit, balance after inspection.
