The performance of an abrasive wheel is determined by its grit size, which is defined by the mesh number (number of screen openings per inch). This directly affects the processing effect:

**Coarse grit (24-36 mesh):** Large particles, fast grinding but rough surface, suitable for deburring rough parts or coarse grinding of welds.

**Medium grit (46-80 mesh):** Balances efficiency and surface finish; 46 mesh removes tool marks, while 80 mesh is close to fine grinding.

**Fine grit (100 mesh and above):** Fine particles, smooth surface, used for fine grinding or tool polishing.

When selecting, consider the material: Brown fused alumina (high hardness) is often used for metals, while silicon carbide (prevents burning) is chosen for non-metals.
